Artist opens shop space in Launceston, making art accessible to all

Wildflowers, bees and the Cornish countryside all blended into beautiful pieces of artwork - that is the vision of local artist Paula May, who has recently opened her own little shop in the Market House Arcade.

If you venture into 5 Market House Arcade in Launceston, you will be in awe of Paula’s vibrant, nature-inspired pieces of work that line the walls of the shop. As well as original works, there are prints and greetings cards available to purchase.

Paula has embraced her artistic talent after retiring a few years ago. She said: “I’ve been painting since I was a little girl, but when I retired I thought I would go about it in a big way. I soon came to realise that I would need a shop, so now I’m in Launceston!”

Paula takes inspiration from the rural landscapes at home in North Hill, wandering about the country lanes and noticing the variation of wildflowers that reside there.

As well as selling her own art, Paula is encouraging people to have a go themselves, offering art classes for beginners in a relaxed environment to paint and sketch what they love.

You can visit Paula’s shop between 10.30am-2.30pm in the Market House Arcade.
