Launceston Community Project

People in the Launceston area who have lost their jobs in recent months due to the effects of COVID-19 can seek support from a new project that has launched locally.

Community Money Advice Launceston (CMA Launceston) is providing the overarching project management to the Launceston Community Project, which was launched in October.

When the full impact of Covid-19 started to be anticipated with the associated impact it would have on the local economy, CMA Launceston joined a number of local organisations to develop ideas which have now resulted in the Launceston Community Project.

This is a project focussed on helping those impacted by redundancy to be connected and signposted to the appropriate agencies to access the help and support they need.

Speaking to Launceston Life, Sarah Vinson from the project told us that they had received £4,000 from Tesco and the National Lottery to help fund this three-month project.

Sarah said: “We are meeting in the Gateway Centre each Wednesday morning from October through to Christmas offering face-to-face help and support and the Orchard Centre is offering a safe space on Sunday afternoons, providing access to computers and the internet to help write CVs and apply for jobs.”
