So, here we are - once again we are in a national lockdown.
It’s hard to say we couldn’t see it coming with the latest figures shooting up over Christmas. However, in times like this, it’s more important than ever to stay positive and utilise the fantastic local businesses and organisations who are allowed to stay open, or who are doing everything in their power to support the community.
We have compiled a list of local shops, food producers and other essential businesses who are working hard to deliver vital services to our community during this difficult time.
Launceston Post Office
Launceston Post Office is continuing its important service throughout the lockdown.
The Post Office will maintain its current opening hours, which are:
9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday; 9am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.
Freckles Pet Goodies, 12 Westgate Street
Freckles Pet Goodies is a Payzone point, offering British Gas card and key top-ups. The shop, run by Sally Meredith, also holds spare keys and cards for British Gas and EDF Energy.
As a payzone outlet, Freckles can offer top-ups for gas and electric, and they can deal with a variety of bill payments, telecoms and mobile and transport and tolling.
In addition, Freckles now offers the All 4 One gift cards.

Opening times are Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4pm, and Saturdays, 9am to 2pm.
Farm shops
Lifton Farm Shop will be open as normal, and for those wanting to minimise contact, online orders can be made and delivered straight to your door. Visit www.strawberryfieldslifton.co.uk
Tre, Pol & Pen in Lezant will remain open for business. The farm shop will be open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for essential shopping, while bookings for home deliveries can be taken between Monday and Saturday, 9am to 5pm. Josephine’s Garden is offering free local delivery. Call 07484 255 178 to place your order.
Westcountry Premium Venison is offering delivery. Open Mondays to Fridays, call 01566 86326 or visit the website.
Other businesses staying open
Westgate Inn, every Sunday 12pm to 4pm for takeaway roasts.
The Sports Therapy & Massage Clinic is open for injury and pain assessment, management and treatment. Shockwave therapy is also available.
SW Podiatry
Trethorne Hotel and Golf Club - the hotel is open for essential workers. Takeaways are available from Monday to Saturday evenings, 5pm to 8pm, and Sundays, 12pm to 3pm and 5pm to 8pm. Call 01566 86903.
