History was made yesterday at Trefranck Farm, home to the Smith family and current men's 9-hour ewe strongwool world record holder, Matt Smith.
The farm was the host for an extraordinary achievement by 51-year-old Una Cameron from Scotland, who sheared an impressive 517 sheep over 9 hours, surpassing the previous women's solo strongwool ewe record by an incredible 59 sheep.
Starting at 5am with a dedicated group of supporters by her side, Una kept a steady pace throughout the day, finishing at 5pm to a barn packed with her team and the cheering public. After her grueling but triumphant effort, she celebrated her victory in a humble yet fitting way—with her favorite chocolate bar, a Curly Wurly!
Trefranck Farm, widely recognised as Resilient Romneys and West Country Premium Venison, has a history of standing in the global spotlight. From royal visits acknowledging their innovative farming practices to multiple world record achievements, the farm has seen it all.
Today, the farm likely feels a bit quieter, but the echoes of Una’s incredible achievement will linger for years to come.
