Launceston Show gets ready to welcome back the crowds this July!

The Launceston Agricultural Show committee are looking forward to welcoming people back to Launceston Showground at Kennards House this July for the 132nd year.

New show secretary Sharon Horsington has been getting stuck in and has lots of plans for this year’s event.

Having grown up on a farm in Stoke Climsland and always lived in the Launceston area, Sharon is a ‘proper Lanson girl’ and is passionate about the farming community. She has thrown herself into the new challenge, and hopes her pair of fresh eyes will help continue the show’s legacy.

“Lanson Show retains the traditional Agricultural show feel – where people stop and get the

opportunity to talk – something we are losing sight of,” she told Launceston Life. “A lot of people have been saying this is the show they want to go to this year.”

New for 2023, show competitions can be entered online, something that was needed to ‘move forward’. The horse section will be headed up by Zoe Gwennap, who has an extensive horsing background, and the usual mix of entertainment, children’s activities, fairground rides and much more will be at this year’s show. The community tent will once again be run by Country Chic, and DJR Estate Agents and Auctioneers will be sponsoring the food tent, with lots of catering options available throughout the showground - and even some delicious strawberries and Pimms!

Launceston Show will take place on Thursday 27th July, in the first week of the summer holidays, so it’s set to be a truly magical family day out.

Sharon added: “We want people to come along to our show, which is popular for all the family, and keep up with a lovely Lanson tradition. We want to encourage show-goers to interact with the farmers, the rural skills and to immerse themselves in the educational element this fantastic local show offers, but most importantly, to enjoy themselves.”

Tickets are £14 for adults, £4 for children and under 5’s go free. You can purchase tickets from Launceston Visitor Information Centre in the White Hart Arcade, or on the gate.

Don't forget to find Max the cat in your magazine and to fill out the competition entry form on our website, to be in with a chance of winning a family ticket to the show!
