Get voting in this year's Muddy Stilettos Awards

It’s always an exciting time when local people and businesses are up for awards - showcasing the very best Launceston has to offer.

The Muddy Stilettos are back for 2021 and there are lots of wonderful Lanson businesses hoping to get gold after being put forward for the awards.

Muddy Cornwall has 27 lifestyle categories and has narrowed each category down to five finalists. With each finalist now aware that they’re in the running for an accolade, it’s now down to the public to vote, vote, vote!

In Lanson, five local businesses are in the finals of their categories. Let’s go into each business and why you should vote for them.


Meg Terry Hair

Meg Terry Hair, owned by young hairdresser Meg Terry, is based in the Market House Arcade in Launceston. Meg started her career over ten years ago and gained experience in a variety of salons before starting out on her own through mobile hairdressing, finally opening her very own salon a couple of years ago.

Meg is a Goldwell colour master and master stylist and has also received training from Curl by Curl cutting.

Meg is up for an award in the Best Hair Salon in Cornwall category.


Flowers by Donna

Flowers by Donna, a florist owned by Donna Cornish, is a business not shy of the odd award. Talented Donna creates beautiful bouquets and occasion flowers and sells lovely gifts in her shop on Westgate Street.

Starting her florist career from the age of 15, Donna went on to receive numerous floristry qualifications from City and Guilds before setting up her own business in 2009.

Donna is in the running for Best Florist in Cornwall.


Warren Wise Photography

Warren Wise, local photographer, has been capturing the beautiful landscapes of Cornwall and the west country since it was just a hobby. Since then, his passion for photography has taken him into the business world, and he sells his incredible work on his website.

Warren is in the running for Best Photographer in Cornwall.


The Byre

The Byre is a beautiful bohemian home and gift shop situated in Launceston’s town centre, selling intricate interior items, eco-friendly products and even owner Sarah’s own handmade macrame designs.

Sarah is a finalist in the Best Gift Shop in Cornwall category.


Charlie Bears

The famous and collectable Charlie Bears company is based on Pennygillam Industrial Estate. Founded by Charlotte and William Morris, Charlie Bears began in 2006, and has gone on to become a collector’s phenomenon, with numerous collections over the years through collaborations with ‘bear artists’ across the world.

To date, Charlie Bears has created 2,500 different designs and the bears can be found in 500 stores across the world.

Charlie Bears is a finalist in the Best Family Attraction category.
