Launceston resident secures event for rare Menorcan Horses...

Launceston resident Fleur Churchill, who has lived in the area for nearly 20 years, has put together what is the biggest event of its kind in Europe, and has secured a world first for the very rare Menorcan Horses of the beautiful Balearic Island.

Recently, Fleur and her team created a taster of the show at the much loved Launceston Agricultural Show on their return after two years' absence. It proved very popular with show-goers, with crowds loving the amazing horses in dazzling display of horsemanship.

Four of the very rare - and very beautiful - Pura Raza Menorquina (PRMe) horses are to take part in the innovative Iberian show taking place this September at Westpoint Arena in Exeter. They have never paraded anywhere else in the world! The event will take place over three days, from 2nd to 4th September.

In their home country, the Menorcan horses take part in a yearly fiesta dating back to the 15th century, with people travelling from all over the world to see them. But this is the first time these rare purebred horses of Menorca have ever performed in a parade where they will star alongside an array of world class Spanish (PRE) and Portuguese horses (Lusitano).

The PRMe horses will compete in dedicated daytime classes, then take part in the parade on both the Friday and Saturday nights. This will showcase the traditions of each country, plenty of party tricks, beautiful traditional outfits and stirring music. It is sure to be a one-in-a-lifetime moment for visitors to the show to see all three breeds together for the first time.
