Local insurer's support for Cornwall Air Ambulance keeps vital services going for the community

NFU Mutual Agents and their staff at Launceston agency recently nominated local charity Cornwall Air Ambulance, to receive a donation of £6,443 from NFU Mutual’s 2023 £1.92million ‘Agency Giving Fund’.

The leading rural insurer operates the Fund to help local frontline causes across the UK, and it formed part of NFU Mutual’s £3.25m funding pledge for both local and national charities during 2023.

This local donation has enabled Cornwall Air Ambulance to continue their vital work, saving lives across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Rachel Sleep, Agent, at NFU Mutual Launceston Agency, said: “We’re extremely proud to have nominated Cornwall Air Ambulance for this donation and are delighted to be able to support the vital contribution they make to our community. NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund was first created in 2020 in response to the pandemic, and this ongoing support is helping to change lives, providing both emergency support and building long-term resilience.”

Julia Jeffery, from Cornwall air ambulance explained how the donation will make a difference: “Every year, we are called out to over 1,000 trauma and medical related incidents, providing critical care to the most seriously sick and injured people.

“Your donation will help people like sheep farmer Derek Colton, who was working alone in a remote field on the south Cornish coast when he found himself suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.”

Derek added: “You don’t think about having a heart attack, it never, ever crossed my mind. If it wasn’t for Cornwall Air Ambulance, I probably would have died.”
