Coop launches Christmas toy appeal

Would you like to help a child in need within our community this Christmas time?

As of today (Wednesday, 2nd November), Coop Launceston has launched its Christmas toy appeal.

Donations can be dropped off to any of the three Coop Launceston stores at Broad Street, Newport and Woburn Garage, up until Wednesday, 7th December. New, unwrapped toys are welcome as a donation, which will be collected and then passed on to Launceston Foodbank to distribute with their Christmas food parcels to local families in need during December.

Coop Member Pioneer for Launceston, Gemma Massey, said: "We have worked closely with Launceston Foodbank for several years, including a delivery of our ‘Bags of Help’ donation last Christmas and of course our donation points in each store, but this is the first time we have asked our customers and members for toys as a donation.

“We are aware the cost-of-living crisis is affecting everyone; we hope this small appeal will be supported locally and we can help to make a small difference to the children in need in our community this Christmas."

Coop store manager Jonathon Opie added: "We are delighted at Coop Broad Street, to be a hub for collection of gifts. Helping those in our community celebrate at this time of the year, myself and the team are excited to be part of this great scheme helping in the community we work and serve."

Donations can be dropped off up until Wednesday, 7th December at all three Coop stores in Launceston and the Coop Funeral Care offices.
